PRE & POST CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Beautiful results start with proper preparation—and a little TLC afterward. Use the guide below to review your pre-treatment and post-treatment instructions for your service at SeRVe Wellness & Aesthetics.

These are general guidelines. Your individual treatment plan, medical history, and the area treated may require different instructions. Always follow the specific recommendations Sarah gives you at your appointment.

If you have questions or something does not feel right after treatment, please contact SeRVe.

This applies to neurotoxins, dermal filler, SKINVIVE, Sculptra, PRF/PRF EZ Gel, Kybella, and filler dissolving.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Please arrive with a clean face whenever possible.
  • Let us know about all medications, supplements, allergies, medical conditions, recent illnesses, and previous reactions to injectable treatments.
  • Tell us if you are currently taking antibiotics or have an active infection, fever, rash, cold sore, dental infection, or other illness.
  • Please let us know about dental work or immunizations within approximately 2 weeks of your appointment. Depending on the treatment and circumstances, we may recommend rescheduling.
  • If you have a history of cold sores and we are treating around the mouth, please tell us before your appointment.
  • To help minimize bruising, avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours before treatment when possible.
  • Aspirin, ibuprofen/Advil, naproxen/Aleve, anticoagulants, and certain supplements can increase bruising. Do not discontinue any medically necessary or prescribed medication unless your prescribing provider tells you to do so.
  • Arnica and/or bromelain may be used if appropriate for you to help minimize bruising.
  • Avoid treatment over an area with an active infection, rash, open wound, or significant inflammation.

BOTOX® | DYSPORT® | DAXXIFY®

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours when possible to reduce the chance of bruising.
  • Tell us about any medications or supplements you take, particularly muscle relaxants, certain antibiotics, or other medications that may affect neuromuscular function.
  • Tell us if you have received any botulinum toxin product within the previous 4 months.
  • Let us know if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular disorder, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, facial muscle weakness, or a history of reactions to botulinum toxin.
  • Tell us about recent dental work, immunizations, antibiotics, illness, or infection.

AFTER TREATMENT

For the first 3–4 hours:

  • Remain upright.
  • Avoid lying flat or taking a nap.
  • Do not massage, rub, or place significant pressure over the injected areas.

For the remainder of the day:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise and activities that cause significant flushing or overheating.
  • Avoid facial massage, gua sha, or treatments that place pressure over the injected areas.
  • Makeup may generally be applied gently if the skin is intact.

Small bumps, redness, tenderness, or occasional bruising at injection sites are normal and typically resolve quickly.

WHEN WILL IT WORK?

Neurotoxin results are not immediate. You may begin noticing changes within several days, with results continuing to develop afterward. Allow the treatment adequate time to fully settle before evaluating your final result.

CONTACT US IF:

You experience an unexpected or concerning reaction.

Seek immediate medical attention for difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing, significant generalized muscle weakness, or other severe symptoms.

JUVÉDERM® | RHA® | RESTYLANE®

Lips • Cheeks • Chin • Jawline • Under-Eye Support • Facial Balancing

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours before treatment when possible.
  • If medically appropriate, avoid nonessential medications or supplements that increase bruising. Never stop a prescribed medication without approval from the prescribing provider.
  • Tell us if you have a history of cold sores, especially before lip or perioral filler.
  • Please notify us of recent or upcoming dental work, vaccinations, infections, antibiotics, illnesses, or procedures.
  • Do not receive filler in an area with active acne lesions, cold sores, rash, infection, or broken skin.
  • Plan ahead for special events. Although some clients experience very little downtime, swelling and bruising are always possible.

AFTER TREATMENT

For the first 12 hours:

  • Avoid makeup directly over injection sites when possible.
  • Keep the treatment area clean.
  • Do not massage or manipulate your filler unless Sarah specifically instructs you to.

For the first 24 hours:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise.
  • Avoid significant heat exposure including saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, and prolonged direct sun.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Avoid excessive pressure on the treated areas.

For the next several days:

  • Swelling, tenderness, firmness, bruising, asymmetry, and small palpable areas can occur while the tissue heals.
  • Swelling is often most noticeable during the first few days and can fluctuate.
  • Lip filler can produce particularly noticeable temporary swelling.
  • A cool compress may be used gently for comfort. Do not apply excessive pressure.
  • When possible, sleep on your back with your head slightly elevated the first night or two.
  • Avoid aggressively massaging the treatment area unless directed by Sarah.

IMPORTANT

Do not judge your final filler result while you are swollen. Your tissues need time to settle.

CONTACT SeRVe IMMEDIATELY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

  • Severe, unusual, or increasing pain
  • Skin that becomes white, pale, dusky, gray, blue, or develops a mottled/lacy appearance
  • Skin that feels unusually cool
  • Blistering or rapidly worsening skin changes
  • Significant redness, warmth, drainage, or signs of infection
  • Any visual disturbance or vision change

Vision changes, symptoms of a stroke, difficulty speaking, significant weakness, or other severe neurologic symptoms require emergency medical attention.

Although SKINVIVE is made with hyaluronic acid, it is injected as tiny intradermal microdroplets to improve cheek skin smoothness rather than create traditional facial volume.

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Follow the general injectable guidelines above.
  • Avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours when possible.
  • Let us know about medications or supplements that may increase bruising.
  • Tell us about recent illness, infections, dental work, immunizations, antibiotics, or inflammatory skin conditions.
  • Arrive without heavy makeup if possible.

AFTER TREATMENT

Tiny bumps at the injection sites are normal immediately after SKINVIVE and typically settle as the product integrates.

You may also experience:

  • Redness
  • Mild swelling
  • Tenderness
  • Bruising
  • Small bumps or temporary uneven texture
  • Itching or sensitivity

For the first 12 hours, avoid makeup directly over the injection sites when possible.

For the first 24 hours:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise.
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Avoid excessive sun or heat exposure.
  • Do not aggressively rub or massage the treatment area unless directed.

Contact SeRVe for severe or increasing pain, unusual skin discoloration, blistering, signs of infection, visual changes, or anything that feels significantly different from expected post-injection swelling and tenderness.

Sculptra is a collagen-stimulating injectable and behaves differently from traditional dermal filler. Results develop gradually as your body builds collagen.

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Follow our general injectable pre-care instructions.
  • Avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours when possible.
  • If medically appropriate, avoid nonessential medications or supplements that increase bruising.
  • Tell us about recent dental procedures, vaccinations, illness, infections, or antibiotics.
  • Arrive well hydrated.

AFTER TREATMENT

REMEMBER: 5–5–5

Massage the treated areas:

5 minutes 5 times per day for 5 days

This is an important part of your Sculptra aftercare.

You may initially look fuller because of the sterile water used during treatment. This temporary fullness decreases as the fluid is absorbed and does not represent your final Sculptra result.

Swelling, bruising, redness, and tenderness can occur.

For the first 24–48 hours:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise if you are significantly swollen or bruised.
  • Avoid excessive heat.
  • A wrapped cold pack may be used briefly for swelling.
  • Continue your 5–5–5 massage even if the area is mildly tender.

Sculptra results develop gradually, so patience is part of the process.

Contact SeRVe for persistent lumps or nodules, worsening redness, warmth, significant pain, drainage, signs of infection, or anything else concerning.

PRF treatments use components derived from your own blood to support tissue rejuvenation. PRF EZ Gel creates a gel-like product that can be placed strategically for regenerative support and volume.

BEFORE TREATMENT

HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE.

Being well hydrated can make your blood draw—and therefore your treatment—much easier.

  • Drink plenty of water the day before and morning of treatment.
  • Eat a normal meal before your appointment unless you have been instructed otherwise.
  • Avoid excessive alcohol the day before.
  • Tell us about medications, supplements, illness, infection, or antibiotics.
  • If medically appropriate, avoid nonessential medications or supplements that increase bruising.
  • Do not discontinue prescribed medication without speaking with your prescribing provider.

AFTER TREATMENT

Swelling and bruising are common, especially when treating the under-eye area.

You may notice:

  • Puffiness
  • Tenderness
  • Bruising
  • Firmness
  • Temporary asymmetry
  • Mild redness at injection sites

For the first 24–48 hours:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise.
  • Avoid alcohol for approximately 24 hours.
  • Avoid excessive heat, saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga.
  • Do not aggressively massage the treatment area unless Sarah tells you otherwise.
  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated when possible.
  • Treat the area gently while swelling resolves.

PRF treatments rely on your body's own healing response, and results develop progressively rather than instantly.

Contact SeRVe for severe or worsening pain, unusual skin discoloration, excessive swelling, increasing redness/warmth, drainage, fever, visual changes, or other concerning symptoms.

KYBELLA is an injectable treatment used to improve the appearance of submental fullness beneath the chin.

  • Tell us if you have bleeding problems or take medications that affect blood clotting.
  • Do not receive treatment if you have an infection in the treatment area.
  • Follow the general injectable pre-care guidelines above.

Common temporary effects include:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Tenderness or pain
  • Redness
  • Numbness
  • Firmness or hardness beneath the skin

You may use a wrapped cool compress intermittently for comfort.

For the first 24–48 hours:

  • Avoid strenuous exercise if swelling is significant.
  • Avoid excessive heat.
  • Avoid aggressive massage unless instructed otherwise.
  • Sleeping slightly elevated may help with swelling.

CONTACT SeRVe PROMPTLY IF YOU EXPERIENCE:

  • An uneven smile or new facial muscle weakness
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Increasing redness or significant pain
  • An open sore
  • Drainage from the treatment area
  • Any other unexpected or worsening reaction

FILLER DISSOLVING

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme used to break down hyaluronic acid filler when medically or aesthetically appropriate.

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Tell us exactly which filler was previously injected, when it was injected, and where it was placed if known.
  • Let us know about previous reactions to fillers or hyaluronidase.
  • Tell us about medications, allergies, illness, antibiotics, or active infections.
  • Understand that filler dissolving may require more than one treatment session.
  • Hyaluronidase cannot selectively distinguish between filler you want removed and adjacent HA filler in the same area.

AFTER TREATMENT

Temporary:

  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Tenderness
  • Bruising
  • Itching

may occur following treatment.

Avoid strenuous exercise, significant heat, and alcohol for approximately 24 hours if you are swollen or bruised.

Allow swelling to resolve before evaluating the result.

BEFORE TREATMENT

  • Avoid significant sun exposure or sunburn before treatment.
  • Come to your appointment with clean skin when possible.
  • Tell us about active acne lesions, cold sores, infections, rashes, open wounds, or recent skin procedures.
  • Tell us if you have a history of cold sores if we will be treating near the mouth.
  • Follow Sarah's instructions regarding retinoids, exfoliating acids, or other potentially irritating active skincare before treatment.
  • Avoid waxing or other treatments that significantly irritate the treatment area immediately beforehand.

THE FIRST 24 HOURS

Your skin has just undergone controlled microneedling and should be treated very gently.

  • Do not apply cleanser or routine skincare products during the first 24 hours.
  • Cool water may be used to gently rinse the skin if needed.
  • Avoid makeup.
  • Avoid sunscreen during this initial period unless Sarah specifically provides different instructions.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Do not touch the treatment area unnecessarily.

AFTER 24 HOURS

  • Resume a gentle cleanser as directed.
  • Begin using sunscreen.
  • Keep the skin well hydrated.
  • Use only gentle products recommended for post-procedure skin.
  • Makeup may generally be resumed after 24 hours if the skin is intact and comfortable.

FOR APPROXIMATELY 72 HOURS

Avoid:

  • Strenuous exercise
  • Heavy sweating
  • Sauna or steam
  • Excessive heat
  • Significant sun exposure

FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK

Avoid potentially irritating active ingredients such as:

  • Retinoids/retinol
  • Tretinoin
  • Exfoliating acids
  • Strong vitamin C formulas
  • Scrubs and mechanical exfoliation

Redness similar to a mild sunburn, dryness, tightness, and light peeling can occur and typically improve as the skin recovers.

Do not pick, scrub, or exfoliate peeling skin.

Contact SeRVe for increasing redness, warmth, significant itching, pus/drainage, worsening pain, signs of infection, or an unexpected reaction.

The Perfect Derma Peel has its own very specific home-care protocol. Your take-home kit is part of your treatment—use it exactly as directed.

BEFORE YOUR PEEL

  • Avoid significant sun exposure or sunburn.
  • Stop retinoids/retinol/tretinoin and irritating exfoliating products before your peel as directed by Sarah.
  • Tell us if you use prescription acne medications or isotretinoin.
  • Tell us about any recent laser treatments, microneedling, waxing, facial procedures, or other chemical peels.
  • Tell us if you have an active rash, infection, wound, or cold sore.
  • If you have a history of cold sores, please let us know before treatment.

DAY 1 — THE DAY OF YOUR PEEL

The peel solution needs to remain on the treated skin for at least 6 hours.

During those first 6 hours:

  • Do not wash the treated area.
  • Do not touch or rub the skin unnecessarily.
  • Do not apply makeup.
  • Do not apply your normal skincare products.

Follow the instructions included in your Perfect Derma Peel take-home kit regarding when to cleanse and when to use the provided products.

DAY 2

Follow the Post-Peel Towelette protocol included in your kit.

Use your recommended SPF as instructed and protect the skin carefully from sun exposure.

DAYS 3–7

This is typically when the fun begins: PEELING.

Your skin may peel, flake, feel tight, or look darker in areas before shedding.

VERY IMPORTANT:

DO. NOT. PICK.

Do not pull, peel, scrub, or exfoliate loose skin. Allow it to shed naturally. Picking can increase your risk of irritation, pigment changes, infection, and scarring.

Use your Perfect Derma Peel moisturizer as directed once peeling begins.

During the peeling process, avoid:

  • Retinol/tretinoin
  • AHAs/BHAs
  • Scrubs
  • Exfoliating brushes or devices
  • Strong active skincare
  • Hot water
  • Saunas and steam rooms
  • Heavy sweating
  • Strenuous exercise
  • Excessive sun exposure

Visible peeling often begins around Day 3 and is generally completed around Day 7, although every person's skin responds differently.

Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher diligently.

Contact SeRVe if you develop severe burning, significant swelling, blistering, open wounds, drainage, signs of infection, or anything else that seems outside the expected peeling process.

  • Eat and hydrate normally unless your provider tells you otherwise.

AFTER YOUR INJECTION

It is normal to have temporary:

  • Tenderness
  • Mild redness
  • Minor swelling
  • Bruising
  • Soreness at the injection site

Avoid aggressively rubbing or massaging a sore injection site.

Contact SeRVe for increasing redness, warmth, swelling, drainage, severe pain, rash, hives, or other unexpected symptoms.

Seek emergency medical attention for difficulty breathing, severe swelling, fainting, or symptoms of a serious allergic reaction.

We would always rather hear from you than have you sit at home wondering whether something is normal.

Please contact us if you experience:

  • Significant or rapidly increasing swelling
  • Increasing redness or warmth
  • Fever or signs of infection
  • Drainage or an open wound
  • Significant rash, hives, or itching
